Canterbury secured a 38-28 victory over Taranaki in the Hilux NPC 2026 semifinals. The win earned Canterbury the right to host the Labour Day NPC final against Northland in Christchurch. All Blacks players Jamie Hannah made a surprise return for the semifinal. Canterbury's victory was confirmed by multiple sources including RNZ.
